How Linear helped us slow down so we could ship faster
How TryLaunchLoop moved from a fast MVP and sprawling Google Doc into a Linear-based shipping system with clearer ownership, PR review, and AI-agent implementation.

The first MVP moved fast. Too fast.
At the start, I pushed a TryLaunchLoop MVP together in about three weeks. That speed was useful because it proved there was something here, but it also created a real problem.
I had moved so fast that Brent and I did not fully understand what we were building anymore. We had features, ideas, and rough workflows, but not enough shared clarity around the product we were asking customers to trust.
A Google Doc is fine until it becomes the product.
We had vision notes, V/TO thinking, goals, feature ideas, user questions, and half-decisions all living in the same place. It felt flexible until it became work to remember what was current.
So we took a real step back. We sat down for a working session and wrote out the vision, the product shape, and the practical answer to the question: what are we actually building here?
For a prototype, a messy source of truth is survivable. For a product you want real customers to trust, it is not responsible. AI can make code appear quickly, but it does not remove the obligation to understand what you are shipping.
Linear gave the work a shape.
Now each feature starts with a clearer Linear issue. The issue captures the intent, the scope, and the evidence needed to call the work done.
We use a Linear ship workflow that lets us claim a feature, move it into implementation, open a PR, review the code together, and leave a clear trail when the work is ready.
Ownership follows energy.
One useful thing we learned is that ownership does not have to be territorial. In this AI-heavy workflow, the person most fired up about a feature can own the product judgment, while an agent handles much of the implementation.
That still leaves real responsibility on us. We review the code. We verify the product. We decide whether the result actually helps builders.
Slowing down made us faster.
The point of Linear is not ceremony. It is alignment. It gives Brent and me a way to slow down just enough that the next shipping cycle is cleaner, easier to review, and safer for future customers.
That is the standard we are trying to hold: fast shipping, but not sloppy shipping. The AI era rewards speed. Products still need care.
